Today we gave a Mediterranean twist to Canadians favorite appetizer: Poutine. Try it and see if you love it as much as we did.

Ingredients:

  • Boneless skinless chicken thigh strips 500gms
  • Garlic powder 1tsp
  • Paprika 1 tsp
  • Shawarma spice mix 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • White vinegar 1tbsp
  • French fries as required
  • Siracha sauce or chilli sauce as required
  • Cooking oil 4tbsp
  • Coal piece for smoke

For Tahini Sauce:

  • Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice 1tbsp
  • Tahini paste 1tbsp
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Garlic Mayo Sauce:

  • Mayonnaise 1/4 cup
  • Garlic paste 1tsp

Method:

  1. Take a large bowl, add chicken strips, garlic powder paprika shawarma spice mix lemon juice vinegar and salt and mix well, let it marinate for at least 1/2 an hour to overnight in fridge.
  2. Prepare sauces, take a bowl with yogurt, lemon juice, tahini paste and salt, mix well and set aside.
  3. For garlic mayo sauce mix in mayo and garlic paste in a bowl and set aside.
  4. In a large pan pour in oil and let it sizzle then pour in marinated chicken, stir it well and cook it until all the moisture is evaporated and chicken gets golden in colour. Give chicken coal smoke for added flavours and aroma.
  5. Spread french fries on a large platter, place chicken pieces generously, drizzle Tahini sauce then mayo sauce and siracha or chilli sauce, garnish with chopped cilantro and pickles (optional), serve hot.
