Throw Back: Muslim Moms Second Anniversary Bash in the Year 2015

Happy Anniversay to MuslimMoms.Ca!

The Muslim Moms. Ca community was created in October 2013 seven years ago. We usually celebrate our anniversary by organizing a big event every year. As big gatherings are currently a part of history, thanks to the pandemic, we decided to revisit one of our groundbreaking events held almost 5 years ago in 2015. This was a grand party to celebrate our second anniversary. Come join us in this nostalgic journey:

In a glittering ensemble at the Continental Buffet in Mississauga ON, were over 200+ beautifully adorned mothers, who gathered at the venue to celebrate the second anniversary of the Muslims Moms of Mississauga/Oakvile/ GTA Facebook Group. Started in 2013, and currently boasting of over 20000+ female members from all over Canada, this Facebook group attributes its growing success to the camaraderie, support and friendly banter that is shared among the ladies of the group.

THE PARTY

The excitement and surprises commenced at 11.30 am sharp, as doors opened to fun prizes being handed out to the first fifteen early bird arrivals. All guests were welcomed with a swag bag and ushered into the grand banquet hall that promised comfortable seating and lots of room for socializing. At the forefront, the stage was bedecked with free giveaways, as well as a majestic second anniversary birthday cake.

After a brief informal mingling session, our emcee kickstarted the party with a ceremonial welcome and introductions. This was followed by Quranic recitation and translations of Surah Fatiha and a verse from Surah Baqarah.

The most entertaining part of the afternoon began as our compelling hostesses took turns in enticing the audience with a myriad of fun IQ riddles, math trivia, song and dance competitions, staring contests and more! The winners walked away with amazing prizes sponsored by various GTA-based, Muslimah businesses. (Find the complete list below.)

Highlights included participants singing to classic Urdu songs, sharing their most embarrassing moments, looking for goodies under their chairs, and mimicking their favorite Bollywood monologue. An extremely sporting audience thoroughly contributed to the lively ambience by engaging with and cheering the winners on with great enthusiasm.

THE AWARDS OF APPRECIATION

In keeping with the spirit of the afternoon, awards of appreciation were handed out to honorary mothers who have been serving the interests of the group by giving out sound advice, words of wisdom and other philanthropic efforts. Winners were selected based on popular vote by the group members. Special thanks to Khaula Mazhar of Eastern Allure Art and Atiyah Variava of Table Top events for designing the plaques and sashes for the award recipients, respectively.

THE FOOD

The energetic round of giveaways and awards preceded a delectable lunch buffet consisting of Hakka Chinese, Indian-Pakistani cuisine and a scrumptious desserts spread.

THE WRAP-UP

Post the delightful feast, our guests assembled in the banquet hall to celebrate the occasion with the birthday song followed by a round of chai (tea) and delicious chocolate cake. Our ladies posed for the shutterbug, met old friends, made new ones and had a gala time throughout!
