Recently our team member Beenish Mahmood interviewed Marya Bangash, the Outreach Coordinator of Smile Canada.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a day that recognizes the rights and well-being of all persons with disabilities. The purpose of this day is to bring awareness and spread knowledge on persons with disabilities and how they coexist in this society in terms of social, political, and cultural life. It also promotes the importance of equality and fairness so that all beings can live in a society where there are no differential barriers in any aspect of their lives.

Marya Bangash is the Education and Outreach Coordinator at SMILE Canada – Support Services. She is a second year commerce student at UOIT. Marya is co-chair for the Holland Bloorview Youth Advisory Council and a Social Media Influencer who dedicates her time and energy to disability advocacy.
